And Then it Hit Me

Why I so enjoyed not having employees for the last decade. And shall I say it ladies, you are the worst. Good grief how many times can we talk about our kids or the drama in our lives. There is nothing worse than inheriting staff, good, bad or a pain in the ass your stuck with trying to get them up to speed or firing them and any good business person knows the cost of turnover.
My youngest try's to convince me that I don't get the 20, 30 something generation. What I don't get are grownups that act like children, worse yet like they're still in high school. Clicks, drama, back stabbing...the "who I know" because I'm in the know...what...really. I think it's a reality that were I to fire someone I could find a better replacement that doesn't come with veiled threats and would keep their head in the job.
How about this.
Show up on time every day.
Dress for sucess, that's business casual, not business whore
Put your cell phone away.
Stay off the internet and social media sites.
Stay out of the drama, being a team player doesn't involve being sucked into someone else's work or personal issues...stay out of it. Oh and don't create it.
Do your work, then go the extra mile and help others... with sincerity.
You're compensated to be at work and do your job...not enough money, hate the boss? Leave, what's holding you back, the thought you're indispensable or you just like everyone to be miserable with you. Go breathe the air find a place where you can thrive, and good luck.
If you can't leave just yet, don't undermine the boss...karma baby.
It doesn't really matter who you think you know if you play that card you'll get a rep...
That last line of the job description...and other duties as assigned. Just what the hell do you think that means?
If you're not into change...go hide in the closet until you hit your expiration date. Someone tell me what business isn't having to make changes in this economy.
If your business is merging or affiliating with another business, don't ask the stupid questions about whether you or someone else will have a job in a year. Lets see we have multiple locations but do we need to have certain services at each locaion or can we consolidate and centralize and reduce staff. No really the business should just continue doing business as always, lose lots of money and then lay everyone off...sure lets share the pain.
All right I'm out of steam. Better in this blog then on the staff...
